![]() In the GUI you're presented with an option to use a 'propriety' driver from a list of the latest versions. ![]() When you do a clean OS install, the default driver is the always the X.Org (Nouveau) open source driver which XP does not like. Īn easier method would probably be plugging your monitor into your Mobo while making the transition (but I only just thought of that now ). Thus tie-ing driver/OS upgrades together. I came up with my own rather convoluted routine to make it OCD proof, but it was a hassle, so I found it easier to choose a nice driver and stick with it. Needless to say, if you delete your driver while your using it, it's gets messy, and has caused some people some rather unpleasant situations when they get it wrong. To update the driver you need to completely purge all nividia files first, and then install the new ones. I tend to avoid it at all costs (lately I just choose a nice driver when I install/upgrade the OS and then stick with it). ![]() Unfortunately updating Nvidia driver on Ubuntu systems is a right pain in the but. Checking your log from each case will show you which driver is really being used. I switch between the drivers through the driver panel of Linux Mint ![]()
